Areas of Practice

Business activities involve financial and legal risks. Even the best contracts cannot always prevent disputes. In the event of a dispute, the options for conflict resolution must be carefully weighed up and the best solution for the specific problem chosen. Ultimately, costs, time and reputation are what count. These objectives determine the course of action, whether through traditional litigation in the courts, arbitration, or through conciliation and mediation procedures. We assist in selecting the appropriate dispute resolution procedure, whilst keeping the economic aspects in mind and always striving to resolve conflicts as swiftly as possible.

If litigation cannot be avoided, we represent clients in all types of proceedings, both before state courts and before arbitration tribunals. We also see our role as developing a litigation strategy and continuously evaluating it throughout the proceedings.

In disputes arising from construction contracts, we have particular expertise in translating technical and construction-related issues into legal terms. We see ourselves as mediators between engineers, construction industry experts and the courts. Clients appreciate our clear communication. We work constructively and regularly with experts. We represent clients in construction liability proceedings, traditional claims for payment of work, warranty proceedings, and proceedings to enforce or defend against claims for additional costs.

Proceedings concerning the liability of planners and architects, as well as fee disputes, are also part of our litigation practice.

In disputes concerning foundation, inheritance and family law, we strive to address the specific challenges that regularly arise from the personal involvement of our clients and the emotional aspects of the case with sound judgement and tact, and to identify solutions through objective arguments and by adopting an impartial perspective. In such legal disputes in particular, it is essential to find solutions that enable continued coexistence and collaboration, whether within the context of foundations, companies or as a family. We have experience in court-ordered removal proceedings under foundation law, and represent clients in liability proceedings and in cases concerning the foundation deed.

Corporate law disputes generally require comprehensive business management expertise. We have expertise in corporate law disputes and provide support in both liability proceedings and conflicts between shareholders.

In our work with clients, we deliberately shift perspectives: members of our team are integrated into international networks of advisers and have prior experience as in-house lawyers. We see ourselves as both sparring partners and advisers in equal measure. Many of our lawyers bring knowledge from dual qualifications, such as business administration or engineering. You will also find management experience within our team.

The aim is always to achieve a swift, cost-effective and sustainable resolution to the dispute.
