We only collect personal data that is necessary for the practice of our services and user services or that you have voluntarily provided us.
We process your data in different ways depending on whether you visit our website, are interested in our law firm or our services, register for a newsletter or attend an event:
2.1 WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT FROM WEBSITE VISITORS FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS?
(I) ACCESS DATA WHEN USING OUR WEBSITE
In the course of using the website www.mplaw.at we collect the following data:
- Host name and IP address of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- Referrer URL (entry and exit side)
- Browser or the browser version
We use this access data for the purpose of operational safety and optimization of the website as well as for statistical evaluations (predominantly legitimate interest).
You can adjust your browser to be informed when cookies are set and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies generally or for certain cases or activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If you decide against cookies, the functionality of our website may be limited.
2.2 WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT WHEN YOU CONTACT US FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS?
If you contact us by phone, e-mail or fax, we will process your personal data (name, telephone number, e-mail, fax number as well as your request and the related documents) for the purpose of processing your request and in case of follow-up questions to fulfill (pre-)contractual obligations or on the basis of legitimate interests.
2.3 WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT FROM NEWSLETTER RECIPIENTS FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS?
Our newsletters inform you about events and seminars, law changes, interesting judicatures as well as resulting practical tips and report on news from our law firm. You can subscribe to our newsletter on our website. For this purpose we collect your e-mail address and your first and last name.
The transmission of our newsletter is not possible without the disclosure of this data. We only send newsletters on the basis of the recipients consent, which you grant by registering for one of our newsletters. The logging of the registration process, the use of a dispatch service provider and the performance of statistical surveys and analyses are based on our legitimate interests.
You can revoke your consent to the newsletter service at any time for the future. To do so, either use the unsubscribe link at the end of each newsletter or send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
To register to one of our newsletters, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure. After registration, you will receive an e-mail in which you will be asked to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary to prevent registration with e-mail addresses of third parties. We log the registrations for the newsletter in order to be able to prove the registration process according to legal requirements. This includes the registration and confirmation time as well as the IP address. We also log any changes of your data.
We send our newsletters via "MailChimp", a newsletter distribution platform of the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. Your personal data (in particular e-mail addresses, first and last name) are stored on the servers of MailChimp in the USA. MailChimp uses this information to send and evaluate the newsletter on our behalf. We use these evaluations in order to recognize the reading habits of our users and to improve the content of our newsletters accordingly. We do not observe individual users. Furthermore, MailChimp can use this data to optimize or improve its own services according to its own information.

2.4 WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF EVENTS FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS?
If you register for one of our events or participate in it in any other way, we process your personal data (in particular name, company, e-mail) for the purpose of organizing and implementing the respective event on the basis of your consent, to fulfill contractual obligations and based on legitimate interests.
2.5. DIRECT ADVERTISING
We use contact data of our clients, business and cooperation partners to send you information about our range of services and invitations to events organized by our law firm for the purpose of direct advertising by post or e-mail (predominantly legitimate interest). You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for the purpose of direct marketing at any time (see point 6.).
3. TO WHOM DO WE PASS ON YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
We will not pass on your personal data to third parties unless it is necessary to achieve the intended purpose or legally required. In addition to the service provider described above, in particular the hosting provider and IT service provider (within the scope of support and maintenance) work for us as contract processors. All our contract processors process your data only on our behalf for the purposes described above.
4. HOW LONG DO WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes set out above and for our contractual or legal obligations.
5. HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR DATA?
We have taken appropriate technical and organizational precautions to protect your data from unauthorized, illegal or accidental access, processing, use, manipulation, loss or destruction. Our security measures are being improved in line with technical progress.
6. WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU HAVE?
You have the right to information about your personal data processed by us at any time. Furthermore, you have the right to correct and delete incorrect or inadmissibly processed data, data transmission and to restrict the processing.You have the right to revoke your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time. As a result, we may no longer continue the data processing based on this consent in the future.
IF YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED BASED ON LEGITIMATE INTERESTS PURSUANT TO ART. 6 PARA. 1 LIT. F GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (“GDPR”), YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT THE DATA PROCESSING AT ANY TIME, PROVIDED THAT THERE ARE REASONS WHICH ARISE FROM YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION.

You can also address complaints to a data protection authority. The Austrian data protection authority is the responsible authority for such concerns in Austria.
